THE PRODUCT
How is this different from ChatGPT or a generic AI career coach?
ChatGPT and generic AI coaches freeform every answer. Ask twice, and you can get two different reads of the same CV: different scores, different priorities, different language. HireGPS scores with fixed arithmetic instead: eight named scoring categories, a catalog of forty named recruiter risks, and persona-adjusted weights for your target role. For the same confirmed CV and target role, the score is reproducible on the same engine version, and every rule that fires is traceable to a named line in the catalog.
Is this an ATS or keyword-matching tool?
No. ATS tools count keyword matches against a job description. HireGPS checks your CV against a specific role using rules written from recruiter logic (scope, seniority, achievement evidence, career stability, persona fit) and surfaces named risks. Keyword density is one signal among many, not the answer.
Does HireGPS work for my industry and seniority level?
Yes. The engine covers 21 industries (ISIC-aligned), 20 functions, 10 regions, and 7 seniority levels: 29,400 distinct role profiles, each with persona-adjusted weights inside the app.

How accurate is the shortlist score?
The score is the arithmetic output of explicit rules, not a confidence estimate from a model. The same confirmed CV and target role give the same score on the same engine version. When we change a rule, the engine version changes, and the app compares two analyses only when they come from the same version. It reflects the rules HireGPS applies for that industry and seniority, written from recruiter logic. Those rules have not yet been validated against real hiring outcomes, and the score does not predict any specific hiring outcome at any specific company.
How many free analyses do I get?
3 analyses per month on the free plan, enough to evaluate different target roles or iterate after making CV changes. Each analysis includes your shortlist score, the decision, your top three risks and your top three strengths. Your first three rewrite recommendations come with the free plan too. The full risks and strengths reports, every remaining rewrite recommendation, interview preparation and career guidance are Premium.
What file formats does HireGPS accept?
PDF, DOCX and TXT files up to 5 MB. PDF and DOCX are what recruiters and ATS systems actually read, so those are the two to prefer; TXT is accepted for CVs kept as plain text. PDFs need selectable text: a scanned or image-only PDF cannot be read, so export a text-based PDF from your editor first. If your CV is in another format, export it to PDF before uploading.
Can I use HireGPS on mobile?
The web app at hiregps.app works fully on mobile browsers, with no download needed. Open it in Safari or Chrome on your phone and it works the same as on desktop. Native iOS and Android apps are in development and will be available on the App Store and Google Play when ready.
Does the score account for work authorization or visa status?
Only when a job posting asks for it. If you paste a posting that requires legal work authorization and you have not confirmed that you have it, HireGPS can flag it as a risk, and your Language & Market Fit score can reflect it. Without a posting, work authorization is not assessed. HireGPS does not assess visa rules or local employment law, so check the posting's requirements before you apply. It also does not collect nationality, gender, age, or similar personal attributes, and the scoring engine never reads them.
THE METHODOLOGY
What does "deterministic, not vibes-based" actually mean?
Three things, all auditable. One, the score is a weighted sum across eight named scoring categories: no temperature, no sampling, no model-confidence blending. Two, the decision (Shortlist / Hold / Reject) comes from explicit numeric thresholds, not a model's vibes. Three, every risk that fires is traceable to a named rule with a Detection, a Relevance, and an Action. Run the same confirmed CV against the same target role twice, and you get the same score. Two inputs can still change between runs: a role you mark as current is measured up to today's date, and a job posting you paste is read again each time. If you upload the exact same file again from the same account, HireGPS normally reuses its earlier reading of that file. An AI model reads your file into fields, which you can check and correct in the review step; from there on, the score is arithmetic. When we change a rule, the engine version changes, and the app compares two analyses only when they come from the same version.
Where do the 40 risks come from?
We wrote each one from recruiter logic, as an objection a recruiter could raise when reading a CV against a role, not as a red-flag keyword. Each risk has a name, a severity, a trigger condition, and an explanation template. The catalog is fixed: 2 BLOCKER, 10 HIGH, 21 MODERATE, 7 LOW, 40 risks in total. Which of them appear depends on your CV and target role: some only apply when a job posting you paste asks for the requirement, and a few are not active yet.
Will the Rewrite Recommendation engine invent things that aren't on my CV?
It is built not to. The Rewrite Recommendation engine is instructed to use only the facts you wrote. Where a number, date or team size is missing, it leaves a marked [ADD: ...] blank for you to fill, and a new CV version cannot be saved while a blank is open. A language model writes the wording, so read every line: you accept, edit or reject each change.
What are the 8 scoring categories?
The eight categories are: Role Relevance, Seniority Match, Achievement Evidence, Career Stability, Education & Certification Fit, Language & Market Fit, Experience Context Signal, and CV Clarity. Each is weighted by persona: a Director-level Finance role has different weights than a Mid-Level Marketing role. The category breakdown is shown in full inside the app after each analysis.
PRIVACY & DATA
Is my CV used to train AI models?
No. HireGPS does not use user CV content to train, fine-tune, or improve any AI model. AI is used inside the app to read your CV and any job posting you paste, and to write CV rewrite suggestions, interview preparation questions and career guidance. To do that, your CV text is sent to our AI provider, Anthropic, which may not use it to train its models. Scoring arithmetic, decision thresholds, and weight assignment are fixed rules, not model output.
Who can see my CV and analysis results?
It is tied to your account and is not shared with employers, recruiters, or hiring platforms without your explicit consent. The people who run HireGPS can reach production systems to operate the service. To produce your analysis, your CV text is sent to our AI provider, Anthropic, which may not use it to train its models. Files and databases are encrypted at rest by our storage and database providers.
Can I delete my data?
Yes, at any time, with immediate effect. You can delete a single CV in My CVs, and all your CVs or your whole account in Settings > Privacy & Data. Deleting a CV removes the file and the CV text stored with your analyses; the scores and results of those analyses stay until you delete them. Deleting your account removes your CVs, your analyses, your rewrite records, and your account record. Deleted data leaves our active systems at once. Copies of CV text can remain in automatic backups kept by our database provider for up to 8 days, after which they are overwritten, and system logs are deleted on a rolling basis. Text already sent to our AI provider stays with it for a limited period under its own retention terms. Payment and tax records are kept by us and by Stripe for as long as the law requires, including EU One Stop Shop (OSS) VAT rules.
How long do you store my CV?
Your CV file stays in your account until you delete it, so you can run new analyses on it. You can delete a single CV in My CVs, and all your CVs or your whole account in Settings > Privacy & Data. Deleting a CV removes the file and the CV text stored with your analyses at once. Your results stay until you delete them or close your account. Copies of CV text can remain in automatic backups kept by our database provider for up to 8 days, after which they are overwritten.
PREMIUM & USAGE
What's the fair-usage limit, and what happens if I hit it?
Premium includes up to 10 analyses per monthly period. The period starts when your subscription starts and resets on that day each month, not on the first of the calendar month, so a new subscription begins with all 10. If you hit the cap, new analyses are blocked until the period resets; you keep full access to your existing analyses, the Rewrite Recommendation engine, and interview prep in the meantime, and you can buy a one-time credit pack if you need another analysis before then. The cap exists to keep pricing honest; we would rather be explicit than soft about it.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. If you subscribed on the web, open Settings in your HireGPS account, then Plan & Billing > Manage subscription, and select Cancel subscription on the billing screen. If you subscribed through the App Store or Google Play (when available), cancel through your device's subscription settings. In both cases, your Premium access continues until the end of your current billing period. You will not lose access immediately.
What does Premium include?
Everything in the free plan, plus: the full risks report (every risk that applies to your CV, each with severity and action), every rewrite recommendation rather than the first three (section by section, with a marked blank wherever a fact is missing), interview preparation (a question bank built around your highest-severity risks; if none are flagged, there is no question bank), career guidance, and up to 10 analyses per monthly period.
